I reached my goal weight! Why doesn't FatWatch say “goal attained”?

Your goal is to maintain your weight at a target level, not simply to hit a target and call it a day.

The first time you see your goal number on the scale, you still have more work to do. You use FatWatch because you know your weight varies a lot from day to day. You're likely to be two pounds heavier tomorrow. That's not a problem, because you're using a trend line to track your weight. That means your real goal is to pull that trend line down to your goal level.

Once you have done so, you're next goal is to keep that line close to the goal. FatWatch defines “close” as being within a five pound band around the goal (that's 2.5 lbs above and 2.5 lbs below). If your trend line drifts outside the band, FatWatch will alert you that you need to start over.

This may be different from other weight tracking apps, which celebrate the first time the magic number appears on the scale. But if you're using FatWatch, it's because you understand that maintaining your weight is a life long endeavor, not a short term project. Your patience will be rewarded.
